Maqam Analysis of Yayla/Yol Havas
This study aims to analyze the modal structure of Yayla/Yol havas, one of the important genres of Turkish folk music. The aim of the research is to define these genres in a musical and cultural context and to determine their place in Turkish folk music. In addition, it is aimed to examine which makams it is based on, what kind of character these makams give to the Yayla/Yol moods and their melodic structures. The study is a descriptive research and documentary scanning method was used to collect research data. According to the findings, it was determined that there were 15 Yayla/Yol havas conditions. Quota sampling method, one of the "non-probability-based sampling" methods, was used in the research. This method is especially preferred in qualitative research and aims to obtain more detailed information with small sample groups. In this context, 5 of the long weathers of the Yayla/Yol havas type examined in the study were selected as examples. Within the scope of the study, an attempt was made to obtain qualitative data in order to determine the maqam sequences and characteristics of 5 Yayla/Yol tunes and maqam analyzes were made accordingly. As a result of the study, it was seen that the majority of the works examined were in the Hûzi maqam and that this maqam played a dominant role in the course of the works.
