Design of Energy Storage System through Bus Energy Storage Cascade Analysis (BESCA)
Abstract This study improvised the Electricity System Cascading Analysis (ESCA) into the Bus Energy Storage Cascading Analysis (BESCA) then the method is applied in the electric bus transportation system. The BESCA applies pinch analysis methods to determine the minimum energy storage based on the current bus timetable and charging system. The increased charging load can also be moved to a non-operational period using BESCA. The minimum battery capacity can be determined more easily using the BESCA approach, the results of which are displayed graphically in the graph. The method was then used to study the effect of charger rate and the bus schedule on the electric bus battery capacity. The bus system’s application of BESCA shows that an electric bus with a minimum power requirement of 57.48 kWh and a 72 kW charging pole is needed.
