Pattern of Electrocardiographic Changes Among Adult Patients Booked for Elective Major Surgery in Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Background: Cardiac function is known to be affected by age, gender and disease conditions.This study evaluated the pattern of electrocardiographic changes among adult patients slated for elective major surgery operations at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, and the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital from March 2023 to June 2023. Materials and methods:A prospective analytical observational study was carried out among patients booked for major surgical operations, using systematic sampling method.Patients' medical records and the electrocardiographic recordings routinely requested for surgery were used.
