Design and implementation of an intelligent medical mattress system

This article introduces the design of a smart mattress system that uses an embedded pressure sensor design to read pressure data from different parts of the patient, thereby monitoring key body parts prone to bedsores. In addition, the system can assist medical staff in rescuing. Sensors are distributed according to different body parts, and each part is divided into a part of the mattress to make it modular, so as to record data from different parts in a modular way. The system can recognize the patient's posture, including supine, side (left and right), and alert caregivers when it detects prolonged pressure on a specific area, which helps prevent bedsores and falls. The implementation of this intelligent bed system is ideally suited to address the mounting demands within nursing homes and elderly care facilities.
