Investigation of Redirection Algorithms in Small Tracking Spaces
In virtual reality, redirected walking lets users walk in larger virtual spaces than the physical tracking space set aside for their movements. This benefits immersion and spatial navigation compared to virtual locomotion techniques such as teleportation or joystick control. Different algorithms have tried to optimise redirected walking. These algorithms have been tested in simulation in large spaces and with small user studies. However, few studies have looked at the user experience of these algorithms in small tracking spaces.
