Make America Great Again and Again: How to Adapt Interactive Installation Art for Virtual Reality
Make America Great Again and Again features a large, fluttering American flag accompanied by the Star-Spangled Banner, with sixty small screens displaying one-minute video clips in sequence. This one-hour loop continues until participants upload their own videos, transforming the flag into a collage of visitor selfies. By providing a public sphere for local visitors, this interactive art project encourages them to share their opinions on this controversial issue. To capture global perspectives on the topic, the project was adapted into a virtual reality environment using the metaverse platform Styly. This paper outlines the process of converting the installation into virtual reality artwork.
