Innovative Hybrid Renewable Energy System for Stable Active Distribution Network Operation
Active Distribution Networks (ADNs) have been developed to strengthen the diversification of the energy structure and compensate for the deficiencies in the development of traditional distribution networks. This work proposes advanced control techniques with a unique Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) to assure the effective and sustainable operation of ADNs. The system is composed of a Photovoltaic (PV) array with a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). The Zeta converter is utilized to improve the voltage of the PV system and the Moth Flame Optimization-based PI (MOS-PI) controller maintains the stable power supply. Furthermore, the DC microgrid is connected to a battery converter and battery storage system, offers energy storage capacity to reduce variability and intermittency in the availability of renewable resources. The overall performance is improved by using the proposed system. The results are obtained by using the MATLAB software to check the performance of the proposed system.
