Diagnosis and Clinical Planning of Infected Molar and Non-Molar Teeth-An Interrelation Between Endo-PerioLesions

Aim: The complex interplay between endodontic and periodontal diseases presents significant diagnostic and treatment challenges. This study investigates the connection between endo-perio lesions in molar and non-molar teeth to enhance diagnostic accuracy and inform clinical planning. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 180 extracted teeth were analysed, split evenly into 90 molars and 90 non-molars. Each tooth underwent rigorous examination, including radiographic evaluation, clinical assessment, and microbiological testing. The study focused on identifying the presence of endodontic and periodontal lesions and assessing the correlation between them. Clinical decision-making strategies were developed based on the outcomes. Findings: Initial findings reveal a strong association between endodontic infections and periodontal involvement, particularly in molars, where the complex root structure plays a pivotal role. In contrast, non-molar teeth demonstrated distinct patterns of endo-perio lesion interaction, which necessitates individualized treatment strategies. The results underscore the importance of integrated diagnostic approaches in effectively managing these conditions. Conclusion: A thorough understanding of the relationship between endo-perio lesions in molar and non-molar teeth is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective clinical management. This research emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes in cases of endo-perio lesions. Ongoing research is needed to confirm these findings and further refine clinical guidelines
