“Genetic Variability and Heritability Analysis in Local Landraces of Sesame (Sesamum Indicum L.) in Summer Season Under Foothill Condition of Nagaland”
In the present research endeavor examining twelve native sesame genotypes in Nagaland's foothills during the summer, a Randomized block design with three replications was employed to investigate eleven characteristics.Variations were observed among genotypes across all attributes, with the Yisemyong genotype yielding the most seeds per plant and Medziphema Local -1 yielding the least. The study indicated that environmental influence was relatively low compared to genetic factors.Traits such as seed yield per plant, number of seeds per capsule, number of capsules per plant, plant height, stem height from base to first branch and oil content exhibited high heritability accompanied, presenting opportunities for enhancing sesame yield.
