Fecal Microbiota, Live-jslm (RBL; REBYOTA™) for Recurrent Clostridioides difficile Infection

Abstract
Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is one of the most common causes of health care–associated infections and is often precipitated by recent antibiotic use. CDI occurs after the healthy gut microbiota is disrupted and becomes dysbiotic. Standard-of-care antibiotics for CDI may perpetuate dysbiosis, fueling risk of recurrent CDI (rCDI). New therapeutic options for preventing rCDI include fecal microbiota, live-jslm (RBL), a US Food and Drug Administration–approved, single-dose, rectally administered, microbiota-based live biotherapeutic product. RBL, which is easily given by any health care professional, is hypothesized to assist in restoring dysbiosis and has proven efficacy, safety, and tolerability across diverse patient populations to prevent rCDI.
