A STUDY OF TITLE TRANSLATION OF 300 SONG LYRICS IN VIEW OF SKOPOS THEORY

The Song lyric is a precious cultural heritage of China’s classical literature. Hence, the English translation of the Song lyric aims to show this charming Chinese classic traditional culture to the world. Meanwhile, it is also an effective way to speed up the promotion of Chinese culture to the world in response to the call for the “internationalization of Chinese culture”. Throughout the history of the English translation of the Song lyric, translators at home and abroad have mainly focused on the main contents of the lyrics, analyzing them in detail from various angles, but few of them have conducted an in-depth study of the title translation of Song lyrics. According to the Skopos theory, the title translation of the Song lyric is a purposeful action, aiming to convey the relevant information to the readers under a specific cultural context in the most effective and relevant way.
