Poynting Streamline for Energy Flow and Aperture Efficiency of Reflector Antennas: Application and analysis.

Reflector antennas are typically treated as transmitters, and their receiving behavior, such as field energy flow, often relies on ray optics approximation. The Poynting streamline method, utilizing full-wave analysis, offers a means to accurately depict the trajectory of field energy in close proximity to receiving antennas, a capability not achievable through other conventional high-frequency analysis methods. This involves visualizing aperture efficiency by comparing the effective area shape with the physical shape of the reflector and describing the trajectory of energy flow near the reflector antenna, aligning parallel to its surface. Moreover, this method extends to the analysis of offset single dipole feeds, exploration of mutual coupling effects in array feeds, and examination of beamforming weights for steered beams in array feeds.
