O PURO SANGUE LUSITANO: DE SUAS ORIGENS À ARENA ESPORTIVA
ABSTRACT: This article aimed to research and analyze the origin, domestication, contribution, genetic factor and transition of the Pure Blood Lusitano horse throughout history. A breed with great cultural and historical importance, considered the oldest saddle horse in the Western world, it is known for its elegance, versatility and strength. Widely used by royalty years ago, today it represents a high potential in equestrian sports. His contribution enabled achievements in both the social, economic and leisure sectors. Its genetic selectivity allowed it to stand out in the vital performance of its functions that previously referred to bullfighting and later to other disciplines involving training, harnessing and riding. Its resistant morphology and dócil temperament allow it to develop a high learning capacity and a good relationship with its rider.
