The Global Burden of Disease Due to Benign Gynecological Conditions: A Call to Action
(Abstracted from Int J Gynecol Obstet 2024;164:1151–1159) Benign gynecological conditions (BGCs) are responsible for a significant burden of unrecognized morbidity, preventable suffering, and poor quality of life for women and girls, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The consequences of BGCs extend beyond immediate symptoms, with menstrual disorders, for example, being strongly associated with girls’ absenteeism from school.
