Stage-Gate Process for Evaluating and Selecting Strategies for Corrosion Solids Control in Water Injection Systems for Enhanced Oil Recovery
Abstract One of the critical steps in managing water injection (WI) systems is developing a feasible, practical, and cost-efficient plan to control the solids from different modes of corrosion in the water injection line. This paper discusses a stage gate process to identify and quantify the corrosion risks, determine the solids formed in the water injection line due to different forms of corrosion, and evaluate and select the most feasible strategy. This stage-gate process was used on an extensive WI system in the GoM and is used as a case study for this paper.
