The Effect Of Long-term Tai Chi Exercise On Body Composition And Bone Mineral Density In Natural Postmenopausal Women Aged 55-75 Years In Urban Areas
OBJECTIVE: This study explores the effects of long-term Tai Chi habits on body composition and bone mineral density in postmenopausal women, and analyze the correlation between them. METHODS: A total of 41 natural postmenopausal women aged 55-75 years were recruited. According to the exercise habits, they were divided into Tai Chi group(EG) and non-exercise control group(CG). Questionnaires and IPAQ scales were used for investigation. The DEXA was used to measure the body composition and bone mineral density(BMD) .The results were analyzed by independent sample T test and correlation test. RESULTS: 1) The body fat percentage(BFP), , upper limb , left total body ,and right trunk fat mass(FM) in the EG were significantiy lower than those in the CG( P < 0.05 ) ; 2 ) The muscle mass(MM) of left thigh, BMC of thigh in EG were higher than those in CG ,( P < 0.05 ). 3 ) BMD of femoral neck , L-Ward triangle, R-Upper femoral neck and R-Ward triangle in EG were higher than those in CG ( P < 0.05 ) ; the BMD of the L-femoral neck and the upper part of the L-femoral neck in EG was very significantly higher than that of the CG ( P < 0.001 ). CONCLUSION:1) Long-term TaiChi can reduce the BFP in postmenopausal women, reduce the FM of Upper limb, left whole body and R-trunk, increase the MM of non-dominant leg thigh, increase the BMC of thigh, and the BMD of L-femoral neck, L-U-femoral neck, R femoral Ward triangle and L-femoral Ward triangle, and Tai Chi can have more good effects on the non-dominant femoral neck. 2) BMD and T value were positively correlated with FM and MM, limb MM and ASMI. L-femoral neck BMD and upper femoral neck BMD were positively correlated with L-high MM and R-trunk MM. R-femoral neck BMD, R-femoral neck T value, R-upper femoral neck BMD and R-Ward triangle T value were positively correlated with R-thigh MM. There was a positive correlation between trunk FM and lumbar L2, L3 BMD, L2, L3, L2-3 T value. There was no significant correlation between trunk MM and BMD in all parts.
