The Effect Of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation On Sleep Quality Inpatients With More Than Mild Depressive Moods:a Meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to systematically evaluate the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy on sleep quality in patients with more than mild depressive mood. METHODS: The full text of randomized controlled trials on improvementof sleep quality by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with more than mild depressive mood in the period up to September 2023 was searched in PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase,Scopus, and Sciencedirect.Literature screening, data extraction, and quality assessment were performed independently by 2 investigators, and Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 and Stata17.0software. RESULTS:Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation can significantly improve the sleep quality of patients with more than mild depressive moods. (I2 = 53%; MD = -2.27; 95%CI,-2.97 ~ -1.57; P < 0.00001).The results of subgroup analysis showed that in terms of stimulation frequency, the 1hz group (I2 = 32%; MD = -2.69; 95% CI,-3.78 ~ -1.60; P < 0.00001) had a better treatment outcome. In terms of treatment duration, the groupof more than four weeks (I2 = 0%; MD = -2.81; 95%CI,-3.22 ~ -2.40; P < 0.00001) had better treatment outcomes. In terms of whether combination therapy was used or not, thenon-combination therapy group (I2 = 0%; MD = -2.93; 95%CI,-3.36 ~ -2.50; P < 0.00001) treatment group had a better treatment effect. CONCLUSION: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation can significantly improve the sleep quality of patients with more than mild depressive moods. Subgroup analysis showed that the group using1hz stimulation frequency, the group with more than four weeks of treatment time, and the group with rTMS alone had better efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating the sleep quality of patients with more than mild depressive moods.
