The Effect Of Different Physical Activity Behavioral Stages On College Students' Academic Burnout
PURPOSE: Academic burnout is a common psychological phenomenon, which refers to the phenomenon that students' enthusiasm for learning decreases and their grades fall due to stress and fatigue in the learning process. Physical exercise, as a positive way of physical and mental regulation, plays an important role in relieving students' pressure and improving learning effects. The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence mechanism of different physical exercise behavior stages on academic burnout. METHODS: The Stages of Change in Physical Activity Behavior (Continuous Measurement) Scale for College Students in China, proposed by Chinese scholar Jiang Tiefeng, and the Study Burnout Survey Scale for College Students, compiled by Lian Rong and Yang Lixian, were used to survey 635 college students enrolled in China. Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 26.0 software. RESULTS: Pearson correlation analyses found that the unintentional phase was positively correlated with the low personal accomplishment factor (F = .127,P < .001); the preparation phase was negatively correlated with the emotional exhaustion factor (F = -.112,P < .001); and the action phase was negatively correlated with both the low personal accomplishment factor (F = -.132,P < .001) and the emotional exhaustion factor (F = -.186,P < .001). negatively correlated. There were no significant differences between total academic burnout and the five stages. Regression analyses revealed that the action stage was a negative predictor of low personal accomplishment (β = -.108, P < .05) and emotional exhaustion (β = -.209, P < .001), the maintenance stage (β = -.057, P < .001), the preparation stage (β = -.105, P < .05), and the intentionality stage (β = -.061, P < .05) had negative academic burnout predictive effect, and the unintentional stage (β = .021, P < .05) had a positive predictive effect on academic burnout. CONCLUSIONS: these findings suggest a close relationship between physical activity behavioral stages and academic burnout. Therefore, interventions and management of physical activity behaviors for college students may help prevent and alleviate academic burnout, thereby improving their learning outcomes and physical and mental health.
