Assessing the Sustainability of Diverse Biofuels through Life Cycle and Techno-Economic Analysis

The global shift towards sustainable energy sources has spurred extensive exploration of biofuels as promising substitutes for traditional fossil fuels. Yet, pinpointing the optimal biofuel necessitates a nuanced evaluation across environmental, economic, and technological fronts. This study undertakes a comparative analysis of three prominent biofuels—biodiesel, bioethanol, and biogas—employing a multi-faceted assessment framework integrating both Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA). Through a comprehensive examination encompassing environmental impacts, economic viability, and operational efficacy, this research offers insights into the strengths and limitations inherent in each biofuel variant. By shedding light on the sustainability prospects of these biofuels across diverse applications, the findings aim to furnish stakeholders with informed guidance for selecting the most fitting and sustainable biofuel options.
