Radio Resource Allocation Scheme Considering Future Channel Conditions Based on Radio Environment Map

Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) transporting products and materials have attracted attention for enabling factory automation. For the safe and efficient operation of AGVs, it is necessary to obtain the sensor information from AGVs under a harsh factory environment where numerous metal objects exist. This paper proposes to take into account the future channel states within a time window that can be obtained from the Radio Environment Map (REM). The proposed scheme adaptively changes the time window size based on the information freshness of packets stored in the buffer of each AGV. This paper provides an integrated evaluation of the proposed scheme adopted together with the route planning of AGV. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves communication quality and reduces the packet discard rate compared to the benchmark schemes.
