An Improved Continuous-Control-Set Model Predictive Control for Dual Three-Phase PMSMs Based on Extended State Observer

Conventional model predictive control (MPC) relies on accurate motor parameters and has a poor ability to resist unmodeled disturbance, which greatly limits its performance in complex operating conditions. To improve the robustness of MPC, this article investigates an improved continuous-control-set model predictive control (CCS-MPC) for dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-PMSMs). Considering the unmodeled disturbances and high current harmonics in the polyphase motor divers, the resonant vector controller is used in parallel with the CCS-MPC controller, and an extended state observer (ESO) is designed to compensate for both ac and dc disturbances. Compared with the conventional prediction scheme, the proposed scheme effectively improves the robustness of the system and retains the advantages such as fast response speed and small overshoot. Finally, experimental results verify the superiority of the proposed control scheme.
