“Morphological study of Human Placentas of Hypertensive and Non-Hypertensive Mothers in Indore region”
Background: One of the most frequent complications during pregnancy is hypertension. It has a major impact on the morbidity and mortality of mother and perinatals. The purpose of this study was to look into the morphological alterations in placentas from difficult hypertension-related pregnancies. The aim of this study is to examine the adverse variations in the placenta in cases of pregnancy- induced hypertension (PIH) and compare the results with the birth weight of infants delivered to mothers with normal blood pressure. Materials and Method: 100 Placentas were used in the study; 50 were from mothers with normotension and the remaining 50 were from PIH cases. Morphological analyses were performed on each placenta The neonates’ birt’ weight was noted. Conclusion: The placenta is greatly impacted by PIH due to its decreased weight and size. Because of these modifications. Utero-placental blood flow may be impaired, which might result in placental insufficiency. Consequently, it negatively impacts the birth weight of the neonate. A clear impact of PIH on the placenta’s shape influences the fetus’s development.
