The Effect of Organic Fertilizers as Integrated Nutrient Management Practices on Morphological Characters and Yield of Tomato (Solanum Lycopersicum L.) Under open Field Conditions
The field study was conducted at Department of Horticulture, Eternal University at Sirmaur (H.P.) to know the efficacy of organic fertilizers as integrated nutrient management practice on vegetative and yield attributes in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). Variety Heemsona was selected for the investigation. A Randomized Block Design was used in the investigation. There were 25 treatment combinations which were replicated thrice. In terms of several vegetative growth and yield treatment with vermicompost gave the minimum days to first flowering, days to fifty percent flowering and days to first picking. Maximum number of nodes per plant, internodal length, plant height, plant spread, leaf area, harvest duration and fruit yield per plant was observed under plants treated with vermicompost. This is because of the balanced nutrient supply provided by Vermicompost which promotes vigorous plant growth and yield. Vermicompost improves soil structure, porosity, aeration, drainage, and water retention capacity while preventing soil degradation.
