Leveraging Blockchain and RFID/NFC Technology for Secure and Traceable Logistics for Documents With Digital Twin

This paper presents a blockchain-based digital twin document verification and logistics management system (dBVM), that is designed to ensure confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and availability of the documents. The proposed system leverages blockchain technology, cryptographic techniques, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and NFC (Near-Field Communication) technologies to enable secure creation, certification, and verification of documents in their digital twin form among stakeholders. In dBVM, the RFID/NFC tags bind physical documents with their digital representation. Physical device offers real-time tracking and verification capabilities for the physical documents. More-over, the confidentiality and integrity protection of its digital twin is supported by blockchain and cryptographic techniques. The practicability of our dBVM system is verified by its successful application in warehouse environments. Our proposed system helps various stakeholders in the logistics industry solving the complex security challenges in the digital transformation process when documents in both physical and digital forms co-exist.
