Residential Space Design for the Multi-Generation Cohabitation Based on Environment-Behavior Studies
In response to the changes in demand for residential space among multi-generational households prompted by adjustments in fertility policies, this paper, grounded in Environment-Behavior Studies, adopts a dual perspective of space and behavior to conduct in-depth research on the actual conditions of typical multi-generational cohabitation residences. It analyzes the behavioral characteristics of intergenerational groups, constructs spatial scenarios based on hierarchical needs, and aims to explore new living patterns in the context of multi-generational cohabitation in the modern era. Furthermore, from three levels of macro (proportion of residential unit sizes and enhancement of spatial layouts), meso (expansion of functional configurations and creation of spatial scenes), and micro (adjustment of furniture modules and addition of spatial details), it proposes design strategies for multi-generational cohabitation residential spaces based on Environment-Behavior Studies. These strategies aim to provide effective measures for the age-diversified transformation and inclusive optimization of modern residential spaces.
