A Farewell Message [From the Editor]

After three terms and six years of service, this will be my last issue as editor-in-chief of IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine</i> (VTM</i>). It will also be my last issue on the editorial board of VTM</i> after 18 years of service since its establishment in 2006. In fact, my service started as early as 2000 when VTM</i> was still a newsletter, and our current Vice President of Publications, James Irvine, asked me to join the team and write the Mobile Radio column. At the time, I was in the middle of my Ph.D. at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, U.K.). It was a period when decisions on 3G were constantly making headlines in the news. This was a fascinating time for a young Ph.D. student to start a career, and the continuous discussions over lunch about industry news led me to start writing the column for the Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) newsletter. I also have fond memories of the work and activities we did to transform the newsletter into what is now a thriving IEEE magazine.
