A Mathematical Model of Population Competition in a Polluted Area

Anthropogenic impact onthe environment leads toa change in the species structureof ecosystems. An external inhibitory effect on competing populations leads toa change in their numbers. One ofthe tasks of forecasting isthe theoretical study of the directions of population change. The paper develops a mathematical model of competitionbetween two populations, taking into account the changein the rate of population growth and the change in the capacity of the ecological niche. An assessmentof the directions of population changeis given. The model is representedby the Cauchy problem for a systemof ordinary differential equations.

Abstract

Anthropogenic impact onthe environment leads toa change in the species structureof ecosystems. An external inhibitory effect on competing populations leads toa change in their numbers. One ofthe tasks of forecasting isthe theoretical study of the directions of population change. The paper develops a mathematical model of competitionbetween two populations, taking into account the changein the rate of population growth and the change in the capacity of the ecological niche. An assessmentof the directions of population changeis given. The model is representedby the Cauchy problem for a systemof ordinary differential equations.
