A QUESTÃO DE GÊNERO NO ENSINO SUPERIOR

The study reflects on the issue of gender in higher education, analyzing the entry and completion of women in a consideration on the global and Brazilian female universe. Methodologically, the work presented a review of the stae-of-the-art literature on the relationship between Higher Education and Gender, supported by the Higher Education Census, carried out annually by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). These trends in female enrollment in Higher Education, proceeding form a global view of indicators to the reality in Brasil. The reversal of the gender gap in education accompanied the increase in the level of the education. Overall, it is true to conclude that women still face a fundamental professional problem in academia: their full participation in the Higher Education system is still lacking, wheter in the role of seniors leaders, professors or researchers. Consequently, there is na urgente need to consider the vast array of gender elaborations left unaddressed when the conversation focuses solely on women in Higher Education and the associated crises of underrepresentation and advancement.
