A RELAÇÃO ENTRE CASOS DE PANCREATITE AGUDA E A COVID-19: INFORMAÇÕES PERTINENTES À SAÚDE COLETIVA

Introduction: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the phase of viral infection by SARS-CoV-2 began to awaken a warning sign for acute pancreatitis in some patients. In this context, Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2, amylase and lipase should be taken into account in relation to this association, as information relevant to the population. Method: An integrative literature review was used with searches in databases based on the guiding question: “What is the relationship between COVID-19 and cases of acute pancreatitis?”. Results and discussion: A total of 148 results were found. Of which, 144 articles belonged to the Pubmed database, 2 articles to LILACS and 2 to IBECS. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 117 articles were removed after reading titles and abstracts. Thus, a total of 27 articles were selected for full reading, of which 10 were included due to their relevance. In view of this, it is discussed that the proliferation of the virus within the cells of the pancreatic islets can result in autoimmune reactions generating negative impacts. Conclusion: The association of COVID-19 with acute pancreatitis, even though it is a possibility, does not have plausible evidence to confirm such a relationship. Therefore, it is essential to produce better evidence.
