Isolation of Microorganisms From Sediment of The Anil River Basin

Objective: the objective of this work is to evaluate the presence of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms in the sediments of the Anil River (MA), as indicators of pollution. Theoretical Framework: Sanitary effluent contains numerous chemical substances and can be found in these antibiotic environments. In addition, the low rate of sewage service and treatment ensures that these contaminants enter the ecosystem through untreated effluent. In this context, the Anil river basin (MA) stands out, in which it has a large mangrove area. And there is an accumulation of domestic or hospital contaminant residue in this ecosystem, which contributes to the increase in cases of infections caused by pathogenic and resistant bacteria. Method: The sediment from the basin was collected at 9 points and microorganisms were isolated from the soil. using the serial dilution technique, then the isolated microorganisms found by MALD-TOFF were identified and their hemolytic capacity and resistance profile were analyzed. Results and Discussion: In the analysis, bacterial colonies were noted at all sampling points, highlighting the presence of hemolytic bacteria. Using the MALDI-TOF system, microorganisms that were not typical of the environment and were potentially pathogenic were identified. Regarding antibiotic resistance, most samples were sensitive to azithromycin, but Klebsiella pneumone isolated from P6 showed resistance, possibly of hospital origin. Research Implications: Therefore, the Anil River Basin suffers from the disposal of sanitary and hospital effluents, resulting in damage to the health of the population, mainly local, and environmental damage. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by showing the presence of pathogenic bacteria in the environment. The relevance and value of this research are evidenced by relating health and environment and how much environmental impact influences human health.
