Utilization of copper slag in cement and concrete

The incorporation of copper slag in cement and concrete shows a great potential to the copper and construction industries in recycling industrial wastes and improving construction material performance. The nature and utilization of copper slag as a cementing material and fine aggregate are the central area of this dissertation research. It examines how copper slag affects the properties of cement and concrete, such as density, strength, permeability, and deformability, before, during, and after production. On this basis, this study aims at discussing the environmental and economic advantages of the copper slag usage, including the possibility to decrease the consumption of several natural resources and reduce material costs. Also, potential issues and difficulties in large-scale applications are explored. The advantages of the research include highlights on how sustainable construction practices can be incorporated in construction industries and areas for further research. Therefore, this research will help fill the above-mentioned gap in order to support the initiatives aimed at developing sustainable construction practices and environmental protection.
