TREATMENT OF RAW AREA PATIENTS BY TANGENTIAL EXCISION AND SKIN GRAFTING - OUR EXPERIENCE
Skin grafting, a simple method for closure of wound plays an integral part of the reconstructive ladder. Here, we present our experience in last 100 consecutive patients presenting to our institute with raw area who underwent tangential excision of the recipient bed and split thickness skin grafting. We found in our study that tangential excision of the wound bed using a skin grafting blade prior to securing skin graft is very effective way to increase the chances of graft take up and gives a better cosmetic outcome Tangential excision of the recipient wound bed is an effective way to convert any non healing chronic wound into an acute wound , decrease the bacterial colonisation , opening of the capillaries at the wound bed and providing nutrition to the graft , better cosmetic appearance .
