La influencia de la asamblea escolar en la participación política de las y los adolescentes

This study investigates the political participation of adolescents through the School Assembly in a General Public Secondary School in Mexico. The main objective of this research is to analyze whether this strategy promotes political participation and autonomy among students, positioning them as social actors within the school environment. A qualitative study was conducted with a sample of 38 second-grade secondary school students (14-16 years old). The techniques and instruments for collecting information were observation and interviews. The results indicate that the group of students with whom we worked values the assembly space as a space for expression and listening; however, the authoritarian and adult-centric stance of the institution prevented the implementation of students' proposals, thereby reducing their agency and limiting autonomy, which runs counter to both international guidelines and educational purposes.
