Announcing the Shelly F. Greenfield MD, MPH Award for Best Manuscript by an Early Career Author
We are excited to announce that we began accepting submissions in April of 2024 for the inaugural Shelly F. Greenfield MD, MPH Award for Best Manuscript by an Early Career Author. Accepted Review and Perspective articles that have an early career author as first author of the manuscript are eligible for the annual Shelly F. Greenfield MD, MPH Award. Dr. Greenfield served as editor in chief of Harvard Review of Psychiatry from 2002 to 2018, and this award honors her outstanding commitment to mentoring psychiatry trainees who have served on our editorial board. Early career authors are those who have not yet attained the rank of assistant professor (or their institution’s equivalent) at the time of initial submission. We do strongly encourage working with a senior author who has publication experience in the field. Upon manuscript submission, early career authors can indicate their eligibility and interest in consideration for the award. Eligible accepted papers will be reviewed by editorial board members based on their originality, scholarship, and potential impact on the field. The early career author of the award-winning paper will receive a $500 honorarium. In cases of shared first authorship among early career authors, the award will be evenly split among eligible authors. Awardees for papers accepted during the previous calendar year will be notified by email around the time of our annual editorial board meeting (typically mid-spring). For questions about award eligibility, please contact Managing Editor, Dawn Sugarman, PhD (email: [email protected]). *Information about the award is now included in the Instructions for Authors section on the Harvard Review of Psychiatry website: https://edmgr.ovid.com/hrp/accounts/ifauth.pdf.
