Huiselijk geweld en de onderliggende gezinsdynamiek
This is the first of two articles on drastic events in childhood. The authors describe what domestic violence is, what it means to experience it and how it affects children, parents, and family relationships. Next, they explore the underlying processes, and theories and explanations that provide answers to the question why quarrels result in domestic violence, and simultaneously give direction to interventions aimed at improving security in families. They illustrate this exploration with case histories and with individual and systemic focal points during treatment. In the second article, yet to be published, they will describe how they have integrated these focal points in interventions using best practices and case histories, in order to restore safe and secure family relationships for all family members.
