Integrated Incremental Capacity Analysis and Differential Thermal Analysis for Improved Robustness in Li-Ion Battery State of Health Estimation
Lithium-ion battery State of Health (SoH) estimation is an important element of Battery Management Systems (BMS). An established method for SoH estimation is indirect analysis, such as incremental capacity analysis (ICA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). These methods have been developed by different groups and employed for different operational conditions. There are complementary aspects of ICA and DTA which can be exploited to enhance robustness of SoH estimation and mitigate limitations when they are used individually. This paper introduces a novel approach to integrate ICA and DTA through a systematic methodology that is then validated through a comprehensive case study. The results reveal this integrated approach outperforms ICA and DTA alone and requires fewer features for consistent enhanced SoH estimation performance.
