ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA ENTRE O SISTEMA DE SAÚDE DOS EUA E O SISTEMA ÚNICO DE SAÚDE BRASILEIRO: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
This article conducts a comparative analysis of the healthcare systems in the United States and Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS), examining structural and funding differences and their impact on healthcare access and quality. In the U.S., a predominantly private insurance based system supplemented by federal programs like Medicare and Medicaid grapples with challenges in achieving universal coverage and managing high healthcare costs despite the Affordable Care Act reforms. Conversely, Brazil’s SUS, founded on principles of universality and comprehensiveness, faces funding and operational efficiency issues despite significant health indicator improvements. The COVID-19 pandemic has tested the resilience of both systems, underscoring the need for robust and adaptable healthcare frameworks. The study concludes that ongoing dialogue and mutual learning between the systems can inform reforms aimed at enhancing population health and effectively managing health crises.
