TWO DIAMOND-BEARING ECLOGITES FROM THE ZARNITSA KIMBERLITE PIPE
The mineral composition of diamond-bearing mantle xenolith, represented by two eclogites, from the kimberlite pipe Zarnitsa have been studied. The analysis of the oxygen isotope composition of garnets in eclogite from the Zarnitsa pipe indicates that diamond-bearing eclogites, or at least part of them, were formed during the subduction of the crustal protolith. A cathodoluminescence image of a diamond plate and precision determinations of δ13C values from linear profiles clearly demonstrate the zonal two-stage growth of diamond in eclogite from the Zarnitsa pipe and indicate multi-stage growth of diamonds in this segment of the lithospheric mantle.
