DYNAMICS OF BRACHIOPOD BIODIVERSITY AT THE LATE JURASSIC AND EARLY CRETACEOUS BORDER
The dynamics of biodiversity of castle brachiopods at the boundary of the Late Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous was studied. It is shown that out of 38 families, 8 families die out at this border, 12 families appear for the first time, and 18 families cross this border. Analysis of the stratigraphic distribution of brachiopod genera in the paleobio geographical Western Europe an province at this boundary showed that out of 133 genera, 58 genera [44%] disappear in the Late Jurassic, 60 genera [45%] appear in the Early Cretaceous, and only 15 genera or [11%] pass from the Upper Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous.
