PALEOZOIC GRANITE MAGMATISM OF THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE PRIKOLYMA TERRANE (MAGADAN REGION): NEW GEOHRONOLOGICAL DATA
The study provides new geochronological data on the U-Pb age of a granite intrusion located in the southern part of the Prikolyma terrane. The obtained data on the age of zircons indicate the Early Devonian (412-419 million years) age of granite. Among the zircon population, a significant number of grains are of Early Proterozoic (~1720 Ma) and Middle-Late Ordovician (~460 Ma) age. We interpret zircons of Early Proterozoic age as inherited from older volcanics of the Khakdon Group, which are of similar age and widespread in the central part of the Prikolyma terrane. The tectonic setting of granite intrusion, as well as the origin of zircons of Middle-Late Ordovician age, are not clear and require further research.
