THE SYSTEMATIC POSITION OF TWO FORMS OF VENDIAN MICROFOSSILS IN YAKUTIA
It is necessary for scientific community to clarify the development of life in the early stages of evolution. In the south-east of the Siberian platform, new forms of microfossils have been discovered with the use of a scanning electron microscope in the Berezovsky trough, the Byuk formation of the Vendian. They are well preserved and contained in silicified columnar stromatolites. Some microfossils have been consistently identified as leaf-like siphon green algae, while others are classified as mycelial and yeast-mycelial yeast fungi. Yeast fungi that feed on organic substances parasitize the thalli of green algae. It is noted that our fundamental knowledge about the rich microcosm that existed before the “Cambrian explosion” of life on Earth has become more comprehensive.
