FREEZE-THAW CYCLES EXPERIMENT OF SOILS: HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND METHOD
To reconstruct the conditions of sedimentation and freezing of sediments, the results of granulometric analysis, micromorphological study of buried soils and morphoscopic analysis of sand-sized grains are widely used. However, the currently used diagnostic criteria for this type of reconstruction do not have reliable experimental or empirical confirmation, and therefore it is necessary to conduct experiments at a new level. To achieve this, the conditions that must be observed when conducting experiments were formulated and the development of new equipment and methodological approaches for their implementation began.
