Degradable Ag@Bi-MOF/Polylactide Electrospinning Membranes with Good Eye-Readable Sulfide Detection, Antibacterial, and PM Filtration Performances
Reducing the harm of particulate matter (PM) particles in the air, as well as the epidemic diseases caused by bacteria and viruses, is very important for human health. Rapid detection of sulfides in water is beneficial for effectively monitoring sulfides in water. Considering the impact of the widely used nondegradable materials on the environment, there is a compelling need to devise the functional membranes with biodegradability. Herein, Bi-MOF loaded with nano silver particles (Ag@Bi-MOF) was prepared and incorporated into degradable polylactide (PLA) to make a membrane with sulfide detection, PM filtration, and antibacterial properties simultaneously by the electrospinning method. The addition of Ag@Bi-MOF led to a reduction in the fiber diameter and exerted an influence on the surface morphology of the fibrous membranes. In the sulfide detection tests, the color of sample PAB-5 containing 5 wt % of Ag@Bi-MOF underwent an eye-readable change within 30 s, even when the sulfide concentration was only 4 ppm. The filtration efficiencies of the prepared film were higher than that of the commercial melt-blown fabric of polypropylene, and PAB-5 achieved 97.05–100% and 97.74–100% removing efficiencies to PM2.5 and PM10, respectively. The film also had good antibacterial abilities against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial rate of PAB-5 against E. coli and S. aureus reached about 100% after contact for 4 h. Therefore, the degradable Ag@Bi-MOF/PLA membranes have potential applications in sulfide detection, air purification, and personal protective equipment.
