Endovascular repair of a uretero-iliac artery fistula: Case report and review of literature
A uretroarterial fistula is a rare complication which is associated with multiple risk factors and can be life-threatening due to potential massive blood loss. Timely diagnosis of a ureteroarterial fistula can be challenging, as it is often missed on most imaging modalities. We present a case of a ureteroarterial fistula in a patient with a history of squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix and percutaneous ureteral stenting. Ureteroarterial fistulization should be considered in patients with gross hematuria and history of one or more risk factors highlighted in this case report. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of this potentially life-threatening complication is essential. Endovascular treatment with vascular stenting is the preferred therapeutic option.
