Oil and Chemical Mapping & Spill Risk Assessment for Offshore Vessels

Abstract Spill Risk Assessment and Oil and Chemical Mapping methodology presented in this paper aims at creating a comprehensive reference document for each vessel where it is applied, containing information about the spill risk for the equipment on board and the conditions that may result in a spill to the environment. In this way appropriate mitigation measures can be identified, prioritized and implemented more effectively. This assessment system combines the experience of the relevant unit and on-site technicians with a methodical risk- assessment procedure, adding value to implemented risk mitigation measures.
