Relationships among Physical Activity Participation, Resilience, and Happiness in University Students

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among physical activity participation, resilience, and happiness in university students. Methods The subjects were 251 students from D University. The research instruments included scales for physical activity participation, resilience, and happiness. Data analysis involved frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. Results It was found that University students' participation in physical activity had a positive effect on the sub-factor of resilience (t=2.004, p<.05). In addition, sub-factors of positivity (t=7.262, p<.001) and sociability (t=2.774, p<.01) were found to have a positive effect on happiness in University students' resilience. Conclusions The implication discuss enhancing the physical and psychological health benefits through physical activity participation among university students and suggest ways to improve resilience and happiness.
