H001 How clinical trials and community outreach contribute to patient care outcomes in Huntington’s disease a 2 year follow up

Background
Over the past two years, the MedStar/Georgetown Huntington Disease Care, Education, and Research Center (HD-CERC) Team members have worked to engage the local Huntington’s Disease (HD) community and broaden outreach, educational, and support opportunities. Based on the results of the Community Needs Assessment and Optional Research Survey in 2022 we have added new outreach, educational, and support opportunities, which have been well attended. We hope efforts will increase Enroll-HD participation. Hypothesis: After using the 2024 survey results to improve programming, we hypothesize there will be enhanced patient education and research participation.
Aims
To evaluate the services put in place in the last two years based on the original Community Needs Assessment.
Methods
We will readminister the Community Needs Assessment Survey to understand patients’ perceived awareness of and helpfulness of services, and to assess other resources they would like to see created by the Center. Services will be broken down into three distinct categories; Support Services, Clinic Services, and Research Participation Opportunities, specifically Enroll-HD.
Results
To date, efforts to obtain responses to the 2024 Community Needs Assessment are ongoing. We will analyze updated data on the number of people in our local population who engaged in support services, clinic services, and Enroll-HD participation.
Conclusion
We experienced an increased amount of engagement over the last two years by our current patient population. With the 2024 Community Needs Assessment, we plan to expand services to both our current patient population and to promote these services to new patients in the HD Community.
