EP11.09: Analysis of pregnancy outcomes of intrauterine twin pregnancy combined with ectopic pregnancy

This study aimed to investigate the pregnancy outcomes of patients with intrauterine twin pregnancy complicated with ectopic pregnancy after assisted reproductive technology. We retrospectively analysed the medical records of 42 patients diagnosed with intrauterine twin pregnancy complicated with ectopic pregnancy by ultrasound or surgery in our hospital from January 2005 to December 2020. The research included patients' general characteristics, high-risk factors, clinical symptoms, ultrasound features, treatment methods, and pregnancy outcomes. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 software. The research results showed that among the 42 patients, 20 had a history of tubal surgery, and 22 and 20 patients had two and three embryos transplanted respectively. All patients underwent transvaginal ultrasonography, with 6 cases of missed diagnosis. The average diagnostic time of ultrasonography for the remaining 36 cases was 30.28 ± 9.31 days after transplantation. In terms of treatment, 9 patients chose expectant treatment, and 33 patients underwent surgical treatment, among which laparoscopic surgery accounted for 71.4%. Tracking the pregnancy outcomes revealed that the live birth rate was 81.0%, the preterm birth rate was 31.0%, and the full-term birth rate was 50%. Among the newborns, about one-third were singleton, and nearly half were twins. Caesarean section dominated the mode of delivery. The conclusion indicated that assisted reproductive technology may increase the incidence of intrauterine twin pregnancy complicated with ectopic pregnancy, but its incidence has gradually decreased with the reduction of multiple embryo transfers. Although intrauterine twin pregnancy complicated with ectopic pregnancy is rare, this study showed that the live birth rate can still reach 81.0%. These results are significant for optimising the clinical practice of assisted reproductive technology and improving the safety of pregnancy for patients.
