EP17.43: Mean uterine artery pulsatility index >95th percentile in a cohort of Colombian women
To describe the characteristics of the population with a mean Uterine Artery Pulsatility Index higher than the 95th percentile in a cohort of Colombian women. Cross-sectional study between 2018 and 2023 at two obstetric ultrasound centres. Ultrasounds were performed by experts in maternal fetal medicine and certified by the Fetal Medicine Foundation. Patients with first trimester screening and CRL < 84mm were included. The cut-off point for the 95th percentile was 2.42. A descriptive analysis was performed. 1899 patients were assessed for the first trimester screening. 71.6% (1360/1899) met the inclusion criteria, and 6.9% (94/1360) of the patients had a UtA PI > 95th percentile. In this group of patients, the mean maternal age was 32.5 ± 4.4 years, and mean gestational age was 12.4 ± 0.4 weeks. 100% (94/94) of the pregnancies were singleton and were conceived spontaneously. Only 5.3% (5/94) had a mean arterial pressure ≥ 100 mmHg. Some of the important independent risk factors in the development of pre-eclampsia are multiple pregnancy, IVF pregnancy and high mean blood pressure. In our experience, none of the patients with multiple pregnancies (twins or triplets) or those conceived through IVF had a UtA PI > 95th percentile. This is why we believe that in Colombia, the first trimester screening should take into consideration additional factors such as patient history, type of conception and mean arterial pressure.
