EP16.07: MRI in cases of Caesarean scar pregnancy on the first half of pregnancy

To analyse advantages of the use of MRI in cases of Caesarean scar pregnancy (CSP), from the 5th to 20th gestational week. In a retrospective study, 7 cases were analysed, with 8 MRI studies, from 6 to 17 gestational weeks. The patients were studied in 1.5 Tesla Aera (Siemens, Gerlain, Germany). All cases produced adequate images for clinical evaluation. The MRI studies below the 13th gestational week do not improve the results or outcomes of cases. After the 13th gestational week, the MRI can provide images demonstrating relations between the placenta and the uterine cavity. The anatomy relation between uterus, placenta and cervix could be visualised. In cases of CSP below the 13th gestational week, MRI does not produce additional information with clinical repercussion. After the 13th gestational week, MRI can produce images demonstrating the relation of the organs involved in the condition, improving spatial relation between organs and the anatomical distortion caused by placental invasion. Also, the images can be used for the production of 3D images, improving spatial perspectives in cases when surgical treatment is necessary. Abstract
